Teething Baby vs Sick Baby
Is your baby sick Or teething?
Teething starts around 6months of age. Some babies may show signs of teething earlier than others. When teething every baby experience different symptoms, ranging from almost no symptoms to as serious as fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Since the symptoms are quite similar, sometimes it becomes difficult for caretakers to rule out if their baby is sick or showing teething symptoms. Let’s make it easier by looking at the common occurrences of both.
Symptoms of Sick baby:
- Fever
- Irritated
- Loss of appetite
- Cries inconsolably
- Flushing of cheeks because of temperature
- Stuffed nose
- Weezing sound on breathing
- Runny nose
- Difficulty sleeping
- Sometimes vomiting
Symptoms of Teething baby:
- Thumb sucking
- Rash around the mouth
- Excess saliva/drolling
- Rubbing ears
- Red and swollen gums
- Frequently cries
- Irritability and restlessness
- Disrupted sleep
- Sometimes Fever and diarrhea
- Rarely vomiting
It is advised to look closely for these symptoms. Contact your doctor immediately if you suspect anything unusual and the baby is having high fever, vomiting, breathing issues, or uncontrolled diarrhea.
