The Al-Beruni Radius
Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Nandana Fort on February 28, 2021, where Al Beruni spent years in an Observatory and measured the circumference of the earth with amazing accuracy almost 1000 years ago. Decisions have been taken to preserve the site and build infrastructure there so it becomes accessible to tourists. PM Khan inaugurated work at the Radius.
For those who are interested, Abu Rayhan al-Biruni was an Iranian scholar and polymath during the Islamic Golden Age. He has been called variously the “founder of Indology”, “Father of Comparative Religion”, “Father of modern geodesy”, and the first anthropologist.
